New Macsite goes LIVE !!

Welcome to the new version X of The Macsite !!.. Please excuse the construction dust... as we will be doing some tweeking here and there, so you might find some new features as time goes on... The Macsite has been around since 1995 (or earlier) and has served as the online home to the DM Mac User Group Classic from the beginning .. The new site design was prompted by the fact that our members have expressed a desire to attempt another try at having our MUG accredited at Apple once again... plus the fact that we have been involved in a wonderful program, we like to call .. Macs 4 Good .. a project where our Mac User Group accepts donated Macs... refurbishes them, and gives them out ..free of charge ..to the community... One recipient we are especially proud of being associated with is a Church in Texas who received a complete "Mac Lab" from us.. You can see their happy faces in the slide show presented on the unfinished Macs 4 Good page ... (more to come) .. Also... we have a new "Chat Room", too...but this one might be temporary, if we can get another one to work... All in all ... we hope you enjoy the new design, and remember.... The Macsite looks a lot better in Safari !!... lol !

New Jordan Creek Apple Store Opens !!

The new Jordan Creek Mall has a reason to celebrate !! .... Apple has opened a store there !!... The Grand Opening was a complete success as hundreds of people got up early to start standing in line and wait for the actual opening of the doors at 10 AM ... Many people brought their Airport-equipped Power Books and enjoyed free internet, and some even upgraded to OSX 10.3.6 while waiting... TV News crews were on hand, and members of our DMMUG were happy to point out the many benefits of using a MAC... Shortly, before the actual opening... a few Apple employees came out to fire up the crowd.... and when the much anticipated moment finally came.... it was like the Total Reality Distortion Field usually reserved for the annual mega event known as the Mac World Expo San Francisco .. (in January) ...

Phil sez ... "Lets Get it Started !"

While our favorite Guru Steve Jobs is recuperating from his recent surgery, Apple VP Phil Schiller was onhand to deliver his first ever Keynote Address for the Apple Expo 2004 in Paris ... There was plenty of the anticipated "WOW"- factor to go around in this show, with demonstrations of OSX 10.4 "Tiger" .. a new real-time 3D graphics program called "Moto" .... a great new video app called .. "Motion"... a cutting edge video codec dubbed ..."H.264" ... incorporated system-wide... and lots more... But, the real show-stopper .. had to be, the unveiling of the next generation .. Apple G5 iMac... Pictures just doesnt do it justice ... you have to see this thing live !! ... But, if you cant wait till September, when it goes onsale... then, the next best thing is to watch Phil show it off in the Keynote stream ... And, you'll find it..Over Here.... "Peeping Tom" worm hits ... and Guess Who is vunerable ?

As if you really needed another reason to thank your lucky stars, you're smart enuff to "Think Different".... this story should serve as a lesson to all... even though, you'll never convince potential victims of the error of their ways ! .... A new computer worm .. dubbed .. Rbot-GR... is making the rounds... and has the effect of controlling a web cam.. remotely !.... This means, everything you say and do in front of your computer can be recorded !! .... That is.... if youre one of the unfortunate people who use Micro$oft WinDoze !! ... LOL .... Steve Jobs undergoes cancer surgery

Apple and Pixar guru, Steve Jobs underwent surgery to remove some Neuroendocrine Tumors from his pancreas ... According to medical sources quoted all over the Mac Press ... this form of pancreatic cancer is rare ... and has a very high survival success rate .. provided it is caught early .... And in a note to Apple employees written by the man, himself .... "Mine WAS !" ... VP Timothy Cook has assumed the controls of day to day operations at Apple ... and he will remain in charge until Steve returns sometime in September .... File Sharing with E-Mail ? ... Take a Token !

A new scheme has been developed for sharing large files through e-mail... however ... for now... it only works with an OSX machine sharing the file with all other platforms ... First of all... the prospective recipients of said file need to download a little ditty called .. Token Redeemer .. (Use Safari on this link..and select "Tokens" from the Products pulldown) ... while the OSX machine uses the actual "Tokens" app to compress the file and generate the actual token...
